Youth Stage Auditions

Want to perform on the Youth Stage at the 2013 African American Festival?
Submit your video or attend one of our upcoming auditions. We’re looking for youth singers, dancers, rappers, poets, actors, musicians and more. If you’re between the ages of 6 – 17 and want to take the stage at this year’s festival, submit you video or video link to talent@AfricanAmericanFestival.net. Youth performers are not paid but they are eligible for prizes and allowed to sell merchandise following their performance. Sponsored contests to be announced.

STEP LIKE YOU MEAN IT – Step Show

GREEK DAY: The African American Festival will promote GREEK DAY (July 7th) on www.AFRICANAMERICANFESTIVAL.net, all festival social media sites and with our street team. We expect the crowd to be filled with GREEK love. Men and women, young and old will represent their sororities and fraternities, reconnect with old or meet new sorors and frats as we enjoy the festival and watch the 1st annual STEP LIKE YOU MEAN IT!

Step show is July 7th at 4pm on the MAIN STAGE. Each team will be asked to perform a 3 – 4 minute routine and will be judged on:

  • Introduction
  • Creativity and Originality
  • Difficulty of Steps
  • Synchronization and Precision
  • Exit
  • Overall Performance

A panel of 5 judges will be experienced in stepping, and consist of celebrities, organization members and notable figures. Two winners will be selected 1st place undergraduate organization and 1st place graduate organization

Winners will be named the REIGNING CHAMPIONS on the festival’s website and social media sites, and given a trophy, donation to an organization of their choice, swag bag, and free registration to the 2nd annual step show. Second place winners will receive a Swag Bag for each participant and exposure on all festival social media sites.
